I did my bachelor in Biochemistry between 2008 and 2011 at Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon and by the end of 2013 I finished my master’s degree in Medicinal Chemistry at the Faculty of Pharmacy of Lisbon.
Concerning my research experience, as a student of Biochemistry, I did two internships. In the first I worked in a clinical analysis laboratory and performed the most common assays used in blood and urine analyses. In the second, I did purification of enzymes and activity assays and also proteins crystallography at Instituto de Tecnologia Química e Biológica.
In the scope of my master’s thesis I developed new synthetic procedures to obtain new antimalarial compounds and studied their metabolic stability using HPLC. Afterwards, I worked as a research fellow at Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Lisbon from 2014 to 2015 where I kept developing the Project which I started in my master. This way, I synthesized a small library of compounds and analyzed their metabolic profiles using techniques like HPLC and LC‐MS/MS and also permeability studies in CACO‐2 cell line. Moreover, I also performed some formulation assays in order to increase the aqueous solubility of the synthesized compounds for in vivo studies.
