Elisa Azzali was born in Reggio Emilia on October 20th 1989. In November 2013 she obtained the master degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology, at the University of Parma. During the thesis months she worked in the laboratory of Professor G. Costantino on the synthesis of potential 3-hydroxyanthranilate 3,4-dioxigenase inhibitors, as neuroprotective agents.
Since January 2014 she is a PhD candidate in sciences of drugs, biomolecules and products for health at the University of Parma, under the supervision of Prof. Gabriele Costantino and Dr. Marco Pieroni, she works on a project by title “InTEResT: Innovative Therapeutics for the Eradication of Resistant Tuberculosis”. In April 2014 she won a fellowship granted by Istituto Europeo di Oncologia and in March 2015 she obtained a fellowship founded by Chiesi Farmaceutici, focusing on the synthesis of kinase inhibitors.
